Crockett Johnson

Crockett Johnson was born as David Johnson Leisk in New York, New York on October 20, 1906 (d. July 11, 1975). He was a cartoonist and children’s book illustrator. He is best known for the comic strip Barnaby (1942–1952) and the Harold series of books begun with Harold and the Purple Crayon.
