Maeve Binchy was born in Dalkey, Ireland, on 28 May 1940 (d. July 30, 2012). She was an “Irish journalist and author of best-selling novels and short stories about small-town Irish life. Noted as a superb storyteller, Binchy examined her characters and their relationships with wit and great understanding.” (Source: www.britannica.com) Shortly after her death in 2012, an article was posted in the Telegraph that basically stated Binchy may have been a better author, better able to understand relationships, if she had only had children. One has to wonder why the author of that article waited until she died to write such a horrible thing. Another article was posted at the Huffington Post that did a really good job knocking down that horrible Telegraph article (which there is a link to within the HuffPost article).
