Julia Gillard was born in Barry, Wales on September 29, 1961. She is the 27th and current Prime Minister of Australia and has been the leader of the Australian Labor Party since June 24, 2010. She is the first woman to hold either of these offices. Because she has chosen to not have children, she has been smeared in the media on many occasions, and even by fellow politicians, as someone who is cold, heartless, and doesn’t understand “the rest of us.” One example of an article can be found at an Australian news site, where people say she is “out of touch” simply because she doesn’t have children.
